Mission Statement

In the spirit of God’s love for all, C.A.R.E. is dedicated to serve the needs of the hungry in our community.

Organization of C.A.R.E

C.A.R.E. is a cooperative Christian effort to provide hunger assistance services within Cherokee County, Oklahoma, for neighbors in need, particularly those not served by the existing social service programs, as well as those eligible recipients of existing programs whose needs are not fully met.

History of C.A.R.E.

C.A.R.E incorporated in 1993, began in 1990 with the efforts of the members of the Tahlequah Ministerial Alliance and concerned community people who saw a need for an ongoing response to the hunger issues in our community. Caring people and community churches were concerned that the many smaller, church based efforts were being abused as well as not truly adhering to the growing hunger needs.

C.A.R.E. is designed to coordinate the efforts of our community and to provide information and referrals to our patrons.

CARE Food Pantry is operated largely through volunteer efforts and donations
from amongst the community, as well as through USDA federal assistance.

C.A.R.E. Guidelines

C.A.R.E. Food Pantry is a response to emergency food needs only. Certain guidelines have been established to ensure appropriate and confidential care to our patrons in their time of need. Please see a C.A.R.E. representative for the guidelines in applying for our services.
